Sensing that this child could generate a cure to the hemophage virus by reverse-engineering anti-hemophage antigens within his body, Violet leaves with Six in tow, hoping to create the cure before the antigens destroy him. During a resistance mission, Violet liberates what she believes to be the ultimate anti-hemophage weapon, only to find a boy named Six. The heroine of the film, Violet Song (played by Jovovich), is a hemophage as well as a resistance fighter protecting the hemophages from the Archministry. Once quarantined, the Archministry then eradicates them before the virus can fully manifest. Led by Vice-Cardinal Ferdinand Daxus, the organization gains control of the government and uses its authority to corral the infected. A group called The Archministry is established to combat them hemophages. These "hemophages," are also known to have a reduced lifespan of only twelve years. The film is set in year 2078, where a disease has caused people to develop vampiric abilities, including preternatural strength and pronounced fangs.
